Prototyping Workshop, User Research
Team: Maria Paula & Kelly Rio
Role: Assist and conduct observational research
This workshop was a part of the research phase for Maria Paula’s thesis. Her ongoing project is based on Wearable Electronic Jewelry. The aim behind this workshop was to teach young girls to make simple jewelry that lights up with an LED. In the process we wanted to understand how difficult or easy they found building the jewelry, using a step by step method designed by Maria. We also wanted to understand what they would be interested in building, with what materials and why.
1. The complication of building the circuit sapped some of the creative enthusiasm. The moment it was sorted, they unleashed creativity.
2. Malfunctioning circuits led to extreme disappointment and rejection
3. Continuous use of mobile phone in everyday life, inspired building of a mobile case with LEDs.
4. Pro at glue guns, used to create complicated jewelry.
